The Magyar people developed this style of horse bow and were the final Steppes people to inhabit the plains of Hungary. Unlike other Steppes people the Magyar spoke a language similar to that of Finnish people.
Fierce warriors, the Magyar favored the bow as a weapon and were deadly when combining this with their mastery of the horse and the Steppe battle tactics, of feigned retreats and encirclement, waging war as far west as France.
The Magyar (Hungarian) bow measures 56" unstrung and 50 3/4" strung. The Magyar is best noted for its smooth draw. Weights range from 30# to 60# with an optimum draw length of 28". Extremely smooth shooting and beautifully crafted. Fiberglass limbs, ash syhas (with lamination at tips of wood or horn), leather limb covering and stitching, all combine to make this bow a piece of Magyar history.
