Our journey with Steve Jawerth began late in 2006 when by chance we happened upon Steve at a traditional archery tournament. Our conversation turned to his longbow as we explained to Steve we were looking for an Australian bow maker we could work with. It was at this point we learnt that Steve had a love of crafting bows. We headed off to the practice range to put some arrows through his longbow, and as they say, the rest is history.
Steve’s defining characteristic is his supreme attention to detail and pride in producing fine quality bows comprising of Australian timbers selected for their qualities as bow making materials.
As one of the new breed of young Australian bowyers, Steve brings to the Wildwood Traditional ArcheryTM range, our ‘Raptor SeriesTM’ of Longbows. Named for the Birds of prey found in Southern Australia that personify the individual characteristic of each bow, this range is unique in the Australian Traditional Archery scene. Added to this Wildwood Traditional ArcheryTM is proud to support one of the many fine bow makers this country produces in the hope that Steve’s work will inspire others to also keep this age-old craft alive. Steve is an avid archer as well as bow maker and lives and works near the town of
Bega NSW.
